look, sqrt(A)*sqrt(B)=sqrt(A*B)
so sqrt(20)*sqrt(30)=sqrt(20*30)
=sqrt(600)
But 600=6*100 so sqrt(600)= sqrt(6) * sqrt (100) and we know that sqrt(100)= 10
so sqrt(20) * sqrt(30)= sqrt(600)= 10* sqrt(6)

The product (multiplication) of two sqare roots is equal to the square root of the product. This works with any roots (square, cube, 4th, etc) as long as the powers are all the same; and it works backwards, too... (√a)*(√b) = √(a*b) = (√a)*(√b) . We'll call that fact statement [A]. So, with that under our belts, let's work the problem:

(√20)*(√30) [A]
√(20*30) Find the product
√(600) Factor the product
√(6*100) [A]
(√6)(√100) Square root of 100 is 10
10*√6 This can be an acceptable answer, but we can simplify it further by factoring 6. Check with your instructor.
10*√(2*3) [A]
10*(√2)*(√3) While less concise, this is the 'correct' answer. Depending on the level of your class and your instructor, √2√3 may be preferred to √6.
