Though Halo 2 is Vista exclusive, it's a good old DirectX 8 game. Maybe they add some stuff and make it DirectX 9, but that's about it. It doesn't need a killer video card.
But real new upcoming games such as Crysis, Alan Wake and the new modern Call Of Duty, they are the killer games that would require an entire new system, seriously/
Now, video card uses a new bus (or slot) called PCI-E. Older motherboard- graphic card combination uses AGP. I don't know about your system but if you're on AGP, then you're limited to yesteryear DirectX 9 card. AGP has been phase out and you're not likely to find any new DirectX 10 card for it anymore. And here, some of the better AGP cards left are GeForce 7600 series, you can get either 7600GS or 7600GT (if you can find one, pretty rare for AGP).
If you wants to use PCI-E, make sure your motherboard supports it.
And then there's your processor. Celeron is a budget processor not meant for heavy multimedia application such as 3D gaming. What this means is that even if you can get a super fast video card, your video card will still perform very slow simply because your CPU cannot keep up.
This is because graphic processing has certain overhead that is processed by CPU, so your graphic card will be waiting for your CPU. Furthermore, other game logic such as AI and physics which runs on CPU will be very slow, so your entire game will be running very slow, simply because your CPU is slow.
What this means is that a getting a very expensive, fast card is a waste of money.
My advise is GeForce 7600GS. pretty fine for most Dx9 games, good enough for Halo 2, but will struggle with future DX10 games. Future games simply require an entirely new system, unfortunately
edit: If HALO 2 insist on running on DX10 API, then perhaps you can't run it afterall without a DX 10 card (Geforce 8). I'm not sure and I think it's stupid if they do so because HALO2 is nothing more than dx9 game. If it can run on Dx9 games, any GeForce 7 is more than enough for HALO 2. It's a xbox game afterall, nothing fancy.

Ignoring the fact that your running a Celeron processor, the GeForce 8600 videocards will keep you playing Halo for a while since they are Direct X 10 cards for under $200.
I'd look at a processor upgrade after the videocard if your MB will support it.

useful it is going to paintings yet! to no longer its finished skill because of the certainty the guy above has already pronounced the thermal/overload exchange will kick in in the past it damages any hardware hence your laptop randomly shutting down all immediately.. i'd advise getting a six hundred-700w PSU .. doesnt would choose to be a superstar sort or some thing particular aslong as your no longer overclocking
