It seems like teen girls are seen as weak and stupid. Like a lot of mothers will let their son go to a party, but not their daughter. The son can get away with whatever, but the daughter has a leash. Like the daughter is sheilded and protected. Which is weird, because they say girls mature faster than boys.
Just a random pondering. lol. I've noticed this myself in real life as a 16 year old male, and on Y! Answers.

People need to stop saying cause girls get pregnant. BOYS CAN GET GIRLS PREGNANT! IT'S THE SAME THING BASICALLY! I think parents who let their sons do things but not their daughers are bad parents.

Teen girls are NOT weak and stupid. Their parents are more protective of them because of guys who want sex, get the girl pregnant and then leave them. A teen girl drinking can be too vulnerable. With guys...it gives them more courage to behave badly.
I really think parents should teach responsibility to males too. If they get a girl pregnant, they should take responsibility too. Some parents don't see it that way and that's just wrong. Normally females are ahead of males in maturity........but they aren't all mature and they are the ones to pay the ultimate price.
Many girls look at sex as the boy loving them and someday marrying them. We think with our heart and emotions and guys usually think with their heads. ...............both of them!

Well I think its because teenage girls tend to be more emotional than boys. Boys just want to get laid by girls and have fun with their friends. When girls are together (nowadays anyway) it's all about make-up and flirting and getting guys, starting from when they're about 12 which is a very sad thing. Its like they think they need boys to complete themselves. So I think parents guard the girls a little more since they're so much more vulnerable and will do almost anything to get a guy to like them, and the definition of anything seems to be getting broader even for preteen girls as well as teen girls. Girls might mature more physically but they dont respect themselves, their self worth, and their bodies like they used to and its a very, very sad thing

Yes I did being a girl and all I noticed that my little boy cousin who is 2 yrs older than can stay out longer than e and I dont think that it is fair I mean come on I'm almost 18

I notice it too. Luckily my dad is a dead beat and my mother trusts me to do the right thing. Plus I don't have a brother so we are all girls. i am the youngest. The my sis is 22. My mom trusts me to go out but I must call her and keep my cell phone on the whole time. And she doesn't want me to go to party's alone.I must go with friends.I will never do that to my daugther If I have kids. It's annoying.

It's because this generation in different from the ones your mom and dad were growing up in so now guys and girls wants sex in younger age such as 13,so their parents have to step out and make sure their daughters are going in the right places and behaving well.

ive noticed it too and it frustrates me like heck coz im 15 and ive had this leash put on me too! its because of all the weirdoes out there and so much raping and spiking happening now its hard for parents to let their kids go out without worrying about them. I'm not even allowed to catch a train with my group of friends (theres about 7 of us) and go shopping.

Yes it is because we are more vulnerable as people. self defense abilities are lower, and were also more fragile emotionally we are something special and treated like it, traditionally the guys are the one outside of the home who make all the money and has all the jobs and gets emotionally, phsyichally harmed by the world and the women stays home and cleans and is there to nurture him when he comes back and is kept more clean i guess from the world and its problems, and maturing in the way you were describing is phsyichal and emotional but guys are still alot stronger then we even if we mature quicker...

As a mom and a girl, I can tell you a big part of the reason is that girls are much more likely to be victims of violent or sexual crimes than boys. I believe it's about safety more than maturity. Hope this helps! :)
