if you consider musical ingenuity, a minimum number of band members that sounds as if there were 10, original line up ever since they started (like 30 + years) with no replacements whatsoever, eternal music, meaning doesn't change with the fad or the times, humility, sincerity, the spirit of radio, red barchetta, yyz, tom sawyer, test for echo, closer to the heart, distant early warning, fly by night,2112,bastille day, good drummer (o baterista), good bass player and a Canadian air force reserve pilot for a guitarist, then the best rock band has to be RUSH! no line-up changes since they started in the 70s. great music ingenuity, 3 band members that sounds like there were 10 of them and they are very humble. Hail to Geddy, Neil and Alex! RUSH ROCKS! and you can't hear or read any negative comments about them!

Tool definitely without a question. Saw every other band listed here with the exception of Aerosmith, Metallica and Dying Fetus and Tool absolutely owns them all. They have the live sound show and dramatic music that is incredibly intricate. The whole and perfect package. The Pink Floyd of our time.

Well my fav is GN'R but not alot happens these days apart from Axl's tour with his new puppets and his promise of a new album SOON. I also love Metallica but they don't know what style of music they are anymore and between their tantrums and constant fighting I don't know if they ever will agree on a style. I wish someone would tell James to go and listen to his early stuff and bring out some more songs in which us fans appreciate them for. I am so sick of bands going commercialised to try and fit in. We love their stuff for a reason why do they have to sell themselves out. The best rock band of today I believe is Velvet Revolver. They are making stuff they enjoy making and their sound is unique and brilliant. They are also a great band to see live and noone can ever getting tired of listening to a killer slash solo.

I would have to say Cannibal Corpse, there is no death metal band on earth that can match their success, and there are some very talented musicians in the band, such as Alex Webster on Bass, and George Fisher on vocals. If you want a taste of pure honest to goodness brutality, check out their first album, Eaten Back To Life.

Hello!
I'm Catnip, 42 yrs. young, STILL headbangin' and moshin'!!!!!
Of all the rock/metal concerts I've been to, all the issues of "Rolling Stone" I own and have read, I "ve followed the long-spanning careers of MANY of these bands, and my answer? "AEROSMITH". Why? B-cuz when they started out in Massachusetts, The music they made was AWESOME, (Even tho' most of them were strung-out on Heroin) to me, their music was better, grittier, more meaningful, and I feel their older tunes could be easier to "identify with". Probably B-cuz they NEVER bought into that "commercialized crap" to keep the $ rollin' in. Their "newer" songs, (since they "got clean") to me, are more of "what their manager's, "higher-ups", etc. want to hear, instead of what THEY feel. It's kinda sad, I'm not saying that the "after-rehab" music is bad, I'm just saying IN MY OPINION that
I happen to think their "pre-rehab" tunes were/are MUCH, MUCH,
MUCH better.

Let me know what YOU think!
Catnip
