There's no admission test, dear. :-) You just start auditioning -- once you get cast, you're officially an actor.

Don't worry that you don't have an acting background. You're officially a beginner, and everyone in the arts was once in your shoes. You'll do some shows in high school, then do some in college. After that, when you move out into auditioning for non-school theatres you'll have some credits on your resume.

Hint -- if your school schedule permits it, audition for community theatre productions. The general minimum age is 16. I've done projects with theatres that used talented teenagers in the chorus, as a way of giving them real-world work experience [including a modest stipend]. This looks very, very good to colleges/universities you apply to.

As for finding projects, a lot of theatres nowadays have an option on their websites to sign up to receive audition announcements. Alternatively, just make a list of local theatres and check their websites at least monthly -- they'll likely post announcements there of upcoming auditions. A fair number of theatres audition once per year and do all their casting for the year from those annual sessions.

If you decide to make theatre a career, you'll likely want to eventually join Actors' Equity Association.

Hope this helps. I can't speak to film concerns, because I'm strictly theatre-based.

Take acting classes, audition, audition, audiiton! Don't get upset by rejection- for every 9 rejections you may receive, you may only receive 1 acceptance. You must be prepared to wait if this is what you truly want.

Get a good headshot, don't burn bridges, because generally speaking, everyone is connected to everyone in the business. Don't think of yourself as being too good to take the small roles, because they can always lead to something bigger.

Try linking up with a talent agency and auditioning for commercials and television- and be prepared for the possibility that you may have to move.

sure, there are requirements. you have to be a good actor, good enough to compete with the best in the world, you need to know how to avoid scams/ you need to have a marketable look, be very good looking or very interesting or unique looking. You can work on these things to improve yourself. it also helps to have a mentor to quide you and help you avoid errors and to do things right. click on my name, read my profile and contact me at my aol address if you want more info

Ask your actor friends, for the procedure in your city. They are the best ones to ask for guidance since you live in the same city.

This board is around the USA and you won't get answers relating to where you live and want to work.
