I agree with liberals that as a country, we cannot turn our backs on those in dire need. I agree with conservatives that the functions of the federal government have been extended way beyond the intent of the constitution.

Here is my stands. I do not claim one side or the other and too bad if we disagree.

Guns are okay, but I would require that owners go through mandatory firearm safety classes every year to keep their licenses.

Abortion must be kept legal. The words "Freedom of choice" is just that; women can choose to do what they feel is best about unwanted pregnancy. I am not in favor of of forcing women to undergo risky procedures performed in dangerous, unsanitary conditions. If you want to stop abortion in this country work on improving the factors that make women choose to have an abortion.

Energy from fossil fuels will eventually run out. We need to diversify into alternative fuels as quickly as possible.

Recycling is good. Lets keep things green.

Lets build up the military. I would love to see the Army Corp of Engineers and the Seabees do repair work in disaster areas. Rebuilding roads and temporary shelters will be enough.

People come to America for better lives. Lets give it to them-open the boarders to cheap labor.

As I've stated many times already, while it's true Kayne West is a jackass, Obama calling him one was not without a political motivation behind it. Think about it. Obama is well aware of the American public being suspicious of him being a racist, what better way to defuse that suspicion than to call a fellow black man ( especially a poplar entertainer) a jackass ? God bless. Edit: If you don't think there was that much calculation behind it, than you are completely naive about who Obama is, because for one, he is one of the most highly political presidents this country has ever seen, and two, I've never seen a liberal who was not highly political. He even beats out Bill Clinton in this area. Nothing Democrats do is without political motivation, and that's a well established fact. Edit: I disagree. No all politicians don't do things out of political motivation, at least not as much as the current president. There have been politicians who have focused on the job at hand and let the political chips fall where they may, of course a cynical liberal ( which I have a hunch you are) would never see that. He has to focus on his image ? What ? You have to be a liberal with that statement. True leaders don't worry about image, they worry about leading, and leading has absolutely nothing to do with winning any kind of popularity contest. As for those calling him racist, many of those people calling him that are independents and 3rd party candidate supporters who have swayed every single election since we've gone down to a two party system, their not southern conservatives waving confederate flags, so don't be so sure of them not ever voting for him.

The 2008 campaign is starting way too early. When that happens by default ONLY the candidates ( of any party) with the most money can last.

I agree with Bush that global warming is real, dangerous, and caused largely by human activity.

In fact, it's not just Bush who I agree with on this, but Gingrich, McCain, Giuliani, and most others who have said similar things.
