Glass was left on the table and caused a white water mark on my cherry dining table. How can I get this off without refinishing the entire table?

I have used mayonnaise (not miracle whip) and put it on the ring for several hours. Start with lightly rubbing and see if the ring will come out. If it doesn't come out with light rubbing using steel wool, gently, may help. Try the mayonnaise twice before going to the steel wool, the steel wool may make too many scratches in the finish and you might not like the effect. The mayonnaise has worked several times for me. Good luck

The mayonnaise thing works pretty well, I've used it before. It works better if you put on cigarette ash, and rub it in with the mayo. Don't know why. It also depends on how long the water was left on, cuz nothing will remove a really bad one. Refinishing isn't THAT hard.

Hair dryer

The white water mark is moisture trapped in the finish, most likely. I like to take a hair dryer, put it on the low heat setting, and gently waft it back and forth, over the blemish. This heats up the finish, enough so that the moisture can evaporate, without damaging the finish itself.

Most of the time, this takes care of the problem on the first try.

Reapply oil. When it still wet, try a blow dryer on the spot. Should remove the moisture stain.
