Sometimes yes. If the relationship isn't working or doing more harm than good then you should let that person go. You shouldn't have that person stay around to share in your misery...if you really love someone then sometimes you may need to do whats right and let them go!!! If it's meant to be they will come back to you.

True in my book. You can love someone in a relationship (i.e. boyfriend/girlfriend) but not be in love with them, it is better to be honest and set them free if you know the relationship is not going to be permanent. Tell the truth and set them free to find true happiness. Same with kids, as hard as it is to set them free, that is what we raised them to do, grow mature and fly away, so bittersweet.

it is in my case. at first, all me and my bf did was fight. about everything. finally one day i made the decision that it was over, we were done. we both dated other people for a while. i heard from friends that he was miserable. we eventually began talking again. we were able to talk and hang out. it took some time but we finally got back together after 1 year. we've been together for a long time now. and we're extremely happy.

I think it is. What it means is that for a healthy relationship it's not enough to love someone, the other person has to love you too. So there's no future in making someone stay with you if he's unhappy.

I havent seen anyone actually live this out. In fact My boss was telling me today how her daughter didnt keep a leash on her husband -let him go out with his friends - and next thing you know , that SOB takes advantage of the situation and cheats on her !
So , moral of the story is ; you gotta watch your man like you would a child ,or a man will be a man !

I think that ends with something like, "if it comes back to you, it's yours. If not, hunt it down and kill it."
I'm not sure if that is the proper ending, but that is what I remember.
I like this one better: Love is like a butterfly. If you chase it, it will elude you. If you wait patiently, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.

I prefer: If you love something, set it free.
If it comes back, it will always be yours.
If it doesn't come back, it was never yours to begin with.
But, if it just sits in your living room,
messes up your stuff, eats your food,
uses your telephone, takes your money
and doesn't appear to realize that you had set it free...
...You either married it or gave birth to it.

Yes this is true-for we can never force our will on another person. You cannot make someone feel something that is not in their heart.
