You need to run the video source (either cable, antenna, or auxiliary video) to the VCR, then run the video output from the VCR to the TV.

Tune the VCR to the proper source (either the TV channel or the auxiliary video source), and tune the TV to the source provided by the VCR (either channel 3 or 4 if you are using the coax cable connection or "AUX" if you are using video cable from VCR to TV).

Pop in the tape and hit the record button. Or program the timer to record the program while your'e away.

Why would you want to? But, ok.. put the tape in the vcr, hit record.
