Does depro-vera shot make you gain weight?

Question

i've heard a lot that you gain weight, and i have endometriosis...and this is the next step they want to try if what i have now doesn't work.
i don't want to gain weight. what is everyones experience?

Yes it does in the majority of women who take the shot.

I was on it for four years and I'm so glad I'm off of it.

Please rethink this drug and find some other form.

I think it is poison and I'm appalled its still being administered to women. Please thoroughly research this shot before having it in your system!

I've never been on it personally but the few I know who have all gained weight-although that doesn't necessarily mean you will. I have heard from endo message boards that many women do not care for it. I would try bc pills instead. But if you have endo and especially if you take them continuoulsy you'll want to make sure that the pill your on is a monophasic pill. Also, don't know what all they want to try you on, but please research depo-lupron like crazy before you take it if it is offered to you. The side effects of depo-provera are nothing compared to depo-lupron. Hope you find something that works!

Everyone's body is different. my doctor told me I was going to gain about 15 pounds when I started depo. I never ended up gaining any weight at all. I think it all depends on how your body reacts to the medication

Ive known a lot of people who have gained a ton of weight!! They went from looking like a tooth pick to a muffin!! Every one is different though!! If what you have doesnt work, just try it and if it doesnt work, go to something else!! Good Luck!!
