I know this is kind of weird to ask people I dont know, but I have had infections before and known right away and treated it; but this time a culture came back from the Doc saying I had one. I have no symptoms whatsoever but he wants to prescribe me a pill to make it go away. I am wondering if this will make me sick if I leave it alone or if there is anything wrong w/out taking medicines since it isn't bothering me? The Doc office is closed right now or else I would call him. Thanks in advance for any FACTS you all know of. :)

I would have never guessed this:

Yeast infections can cause severe discomfort but rarely cause serious health problems. Left untreated, vaginal yeast infections often clear up on their own, usually when menstruation begins. Menstrual blood raises the vaginal pH, causing the number of yeast cells to decrease because they can't grow in the pH present during menstruation.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

I'm not exactly sure what would happen if you left it untreated until the 11th but I'm at a loss to understand why you don't just go to the Chemist tell the Pharmacist that you are Pregnant & treat it yourself! Even if it goes away & comes back I personally couldn't stand the itching & I would assume any infection left untreated at anytime let alone during Pregnancy is not a good idea

You shouldn't leave your yeast infection untreated. It is an infection, just because your symptoms are minor doesn't mean it can't get worse. I would suggest wrapping a clove of peeled garlic (try not to nip it), place in a small piece of cheese cloth & insert into your vagina, until you see your doc. This will help reduce the spread of your infection.

The pill for yeast infections is easy. I've taken it several times with no side effects. The chance that an untreated yeast infection will make you 'sick' is much greater than the chance that the treatment pill will make you sick. Take the pill. You'll be glad you did.
