The sky is blue because water vapor in the atmosphere reflects the yellow from the spectrum upwards allowing the opposite color, blue to be perceived.
The grass is green because of the chemical chlorophyll.

well 500 years ago it was the other way around! the sky was green and the grass was blue! maybe because of all of the wars and chemicals people spray ino the air?
