I think "Requiem for a Dream" Most intense movie you'll ever see. About drug addictions and being prisoner to a dream.

The 25th hour.
There is a scene near the end where he asks his friends for a favor before he goes to prison that will stay with you long after the credits role.

I always found "Crash" to be riveting. It also won the oscar, which is a major plus.
And if you want a deeper pic, there's also American Beauty, which also won the oscar. It isn't as dramatic, but makes you think a whole lot more.
