When I rode the bus, I timed its arrival down to the minute. I left my house at the exact same time every day, and never had to wait longer than 2 minutes for my bus. A little planning will have you at the bus stop for almost no time at all.

I would add, however, that if your reason for not wanting to wait at the stop alone at 6:20 (AM?) is because you don't feel safe then you should either contact the transportation department to see if there's a safer location that is close enough for you to walk to OR if they can move the stop a block or two in one direction or the other if that would make it safer. I would also share your concerns with your counselor at school, and with your parents. Sometimes it takes an adult to make other adults listen. Another option is to ask the police department to put your bus stop on their "watch list" of places they drive by frequently. If someone is scoping out the stop, they'll see the police and move on somewhere else.

If all that fails, as a last resort get the local news media involved. Make this a last resort, so that they can add in the fact that you've tried all these other options and no one is listening to you.

The main thing is, if you don't feel safe don't accept the current situation. It's better to be upset a few people for a few weeks than to end up on the side of a milk carton.

Find an other option! Such as,find someone to wait with you,get a car, call a cab, reschedule your pick-up time! If you try and cannot find another way.I am serious about this! Carry protection! Not a gun or anything such as that! Good Luck!

i use to have to do that but when i would wait it would still be dark so i asked my bus driver to pick me up in front of my house b/c of the darkness and so it would be a little safer and that helped PS don't listen to music; it's better to be alert so you ca hear if someone or something is about to charge at you

can you listen to a radio or tape player or read, or just get your day organized. I use to have to wait for a bus @ 6:00a alone and I made it fine. Use the time to organize your thoughts and reflect on the fun times you had the day before.

---Buy an ipod so you can listen to something and not stand there like an idiot.
---Read a book while you are waiting
---Stand there with a friends
---Get there at the last minute

You need to hold your keys between your fingers so that they are sticking out from your knuckles and be prepared in case you need to protect yourself you might need to jabb them at someone.
