I am an MD. Looking directly at a Lunar eclipse is much safer than looking at a full moon. But now you must ask the question: How safe is it to stare at a full moon?

No, because you are just looking at the moon, which is reflecting sunlight -- much, much less powerful than looking at the sun, which can, of course, blind you if you look at it too long. (Which is like, three seconds or something!)

Go watch it! Have fun! We're having "moon cookies" and tea, and a barbecue while we watch. Maybe beat some drums or write some moon poetry. Cultural as all get out (-;.

You've looked at the full moon before, haven't you? And you didn't need special protection, did you? Same for a lunar eclipse - its just the full moon moving into Earth's shadow.

Nah. If the moon wasn't supposed to be stared at, it wouldn't be so pretty. Have fun.
