Just moved in and I'm at a loss as to how to fit a curtain attachment to what looks to be those standard cement/metal walls. There is nothing there to work with at all. Need drilling advice... easiest solutions...alternatives to drilling if possible.
Don't want to live with the trashy 'draped sheet' look,if I can help it.
Thank you.

Oh, no way would I drill. What a mess.

Your best best is to use tension rods. You can get them anywhere--Wal-Mart, Target, etc.--and most curtains will fit on them very nicely. If you want something more designer looking, I know Lowe's carries tons of them in various diameters, colors and lengths. Other home improvement stores will probably have them, too.

With tension rods, you can put up as many as you need to and take them down easily when you want to change the look.

Hope that helps. I seriously would avoid drilling all together.

Drill a small hole and use an anchor bolt. Most anchor bolts come with instructions about the size of which drill bit to use.
Ask at Home Depot, Menard's, or wherever you get your hardware about what kind of wall you may have, you may have cinder block, or plaster I think its unlikely you have a metal wall. You may have found a metal stud. Either way you need to use an anchor bolt. Its a three step process. Drill a small hole, insert the anchor and then screw in the bolt. Hope that helps.

You have not stated your general location.

There is no good alternate to drilling and using the proper anchoring device.

Go to a building supply, hardware, in your area and ask them what should be used.

Make sure you talk to a regular, not a part timer. Most of the owners and regular staff are given courses on home repairs, etc.

Tell them the building you are in, they may have knowledge of it's construction and the best way to mount curtain rods.

Good Luck

Two Words: Duct Tape

If not you can try putting some sort of adhesive to the wall.
