Am I the only one who misses the days when the History Channel focused primarily on history? Enough with the Modern Marvels (although some of them are good)! I mean, yeah, I got tired of it being The Hitler Channel, but I'm certainly not happy with the direction they've now taken.

no, you are not. It has changed, a lot. It used to be focused purely on history (go figure), and it was sorta the hitler channel, but that was good for the guys who liked WWII, like me. I got into WWII right before they took all the good war stuff off, but it was a good channel. I wish it would go back to hitler channel every once in a while though...

I agree with you somewhat. There was at one point too much WWII, and I'm glad they've gone a different direction. But there really isn't enough history. Some great original shows ("Digging for the Truth", "Cities of the Underworld") but some of their shows could easily be on Discovery.

I'd suggest History International if you get it.

The History Channel has almost always exclusively dealt with US history topics, that's why I loathe it. History International is leaps and bounds better, but it's expensive to have. The Discovery Channel is usually better too.

You need to catch it late at night or early morning...

I watched it the other day - was totally hooked!

Saw the story behind the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Cambodia.

Also the history of punishment was good!

Tonight they had something on the Tsavo lions who killed 135 people..

Go to the history channel site - http://www.history.com/

Browse through their listings and perhaps you will come up with something worthy to watch - ya just got to catch it at the right time.
