Good Point. I'v always wondered about that.I've seen some type of quadrunner looking on the streets. Older people use them just to run around town. They go about 30 and they have a license plate and lights. I sapose if the quad had lights and license plate it would be street legal. Of course they would have to have mirrors and different tires.

They may be more "sturdy" on a mud trail since they won't fall over at low speeds....and that's the only advantage... I can't imagine a quad on the highway at 55 mph...it would be uncontrollable compared to a motorcycle at 100 mph. THINK!

Because the tires and suspensions are set up for off road use. They don't meet the safety standards of a street vehicle. The manufactures don't want you trying to go down the road at 60 mph and try to make turns.

In my opinion quads are NOT more stable than a motorcycle.
BUT...here in Wyoming quads ARE allowed on the roads just like a motorcycle as long as they are insured, licenced, and have the minimum equipment required (that would be mirror, horn, headlight, brakelight)...just like a motorcycle.

Short narrow wheelbase vehicles are not as STABLE, no matter how sturdy they are. Also, consider that 4 wheel vehicles on the road today are required to have certain safety features, like seatbelts.

They are NOT more "sturdy". In fact, they are considerably more dangerous than motorcycles and have a lot more accidents with rolling over than motorcycles.
Doh!

It depends on your community, they are legal in my home town, licensed like a motorcycle.
