Greetings! Two books have been listed and I don't think there are any better books about Hitler than "Mein Kampf" by Hitler himself and "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer.

"Mein Kampf" is actually a very poor history, but it does clearly dictate the reasons and rationale (as Hitler saw it) of the Nazi Party. This nasty book of unbelievable racism and hatred was bought up, hook, line and sinker by the majority of the German people between 1925 until well after the outbreak of World War II. Hitler laid out what he was going to do and why he was going to do it, and came damned close to completing what he set out to do. Yes, the reasons were sick and twisted, but it was gobbled up by the German people. This was the "Bill of Goods" that Hitler sold to the German people. If you can stomach it, the book will give you a clear picture of the mind that was the most warped world leader the twentieth century.

"The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", by William Shirer is a huge historical book that focuses on every aspect of the third Reich. Shirer was a CBS correspondent who lived in Germany throughout the thirties and right into the beginning of World War II, when all foreign journalists were expelled. There is no better text that lays out how the political party came to be, how it completely took over the government and every aspect of German life. It also very closely followed Hitler's decision making in World War II and no other book has come close to describing the downfall this evil man endured in his last days. The book was written originally in the very early 1960's and is still on the bookshelves today.

"The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" is over 1400 pages, but it is the most informative book about Hitler that is being sold today. It is well worth the time to read this monstrosity.

Take care.

Try www.nndb.com/. It has a link to the "Rotten Library page". I found it rather interesting. Or if you feel like reading a really long book, pick up a copy of Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.
