We lost his favorite pacifier and were going crazy but I went online and purchased a new one and now he will not take it and if he does its for a very short time.

i bought like 10 different pacifiers before my daughter finally took one and it was a latex pacifier. I never took my pacifiers back. Can you return something like that?

Yes, it is the shape and material...if he has had the same one for a while, then that is what he is used to and that is what he wants...my daughter, who is only 2 and a half months old, became very used to her "Soothie" pacifier within 3 days of birth and to this day, won't take anything else. Your best bet is to stick with what he has had...good luck to you!!!!

Does he NEED a pacifier? He may not want to use one. Of my three kids only the last one liked a pacifier and that is because she spent a lot of time in the hospital and they shoved it in her mouth constantly to keep her quiet so they could check her lungs and etc. If all else fails and he NEEDS it, trash that one and get another one.

To be honest, I've never seen a baby who liked silicon pacifiers. Perhaps other parents have had success with them but I never did.

You rejoice that you are never going to have the battle of having to take the paci away when they are older! Swaddling is helpful, some babies like swings or bouncy seats. A lot of babies just love a car ride or a push in the stroller, even if it's just around the house. Trust me though, you will be thankful when you don't have to take the paci away from a 6 month or a 1 year old!

It is probably both. I wouldn't return it, it's not like it was faulty. I would just buy a new one, if he even needs one at all. Neither of my children had pacifiers, I hate them, but if they help then just buy one like the old one.

Never put sugar on a pacifier. Or honey. Honey can cause severe allergic reactions and sugar can actually rot your childs teeth before they even come in!
