Global Warming is real. A person can read the carbon measurements found in ice going back hundreds of years. The level of CO2 in the atmosphere began increasing in the mid 1800s; around the time of the Industrial Revolution! In the last 150 years, man has polluted the earth with billions of pounds of carbon, mostly from automobiles.

One can argue that it is a natural cycle that the earth goes through, but it cannot be denied that man has had a profound impact on that cycle, which has caused rapid change in our recent history.

I believe we are seeing a climate change, but I also believe that it is irresponsible to blame the current climate change on human beings, as though that idea were an undisputed fact, and as so many wish to. We know that the earth has experienced a number of warm/cold cycles in its history, but we do not yet entirely understand the dynamics behind such cycles. Indeed, the technology we rely upon to analyze and predict weather patterns is relatively recent, and we're learning more all the time. I remember hearing in the late 1970s about how we were destined for a new ice age in the near future; needless to say, it didn't happen. Although this might come as a shock to people like Al Gore and his special interest friends, our knowledge of the planet is still imperfect; and I'm guessing that it will be for quite some time to come.

Sure, I also believe in global cooling.

What I think is fascinating is that there's a segment of the population that thinks 'this' is the world's optimal temperature. That to be warmer would be catastrophic or to be cooler would be the end times. I fail to see what makes the average temperature in 1965 THE temperature at which the world must remain. The world has been much warmer and much cooler and man is far from the only factor. Still, these folks seem determined to set the world's temperature and weather patterns like a thermostat. Now THAT is arrogance.

Me? I think these folks have an ulterior motive. I'm just not sure what it is. Control? Power? Attention? Money? All of these things? It's the only thing that makes any real sense.

I don't know about the whole Global Warming thing, but I can't deny, the weather is screwed up. Large portions of this country are either under water or burning up at any given time lately. Greece is burning. Greenland is melting. It is odd but I don't pretend to know what is causing it.

Global climate change is happening, there is enough evidence to show that it is. This shouldn't be surprising, the earth has gone through many heating and cooling periods over it's long history. I think the big question for most is has man caused the latest changes? I would say no we haven't 'caused' it. The climatic cycles of the earth are in flux and changing. Could the actions of man be accelerating or intensifying the normal cycles of the earth? Possible but I think any such effect would be minimal.

'Global warming' or 'climate change', shorthand for man-made global climate change are terms that represent the next stage of what the 20th century was subjected to, which was the attempt to spread socialism and communism throughout the world. The scare tactics used to promote the idea that without curtailing our standard of living further and further we will be certainly doomed are a Trojan horse which contains the true ambitions of those who espouse this ideology, which is the increased abolition of private property rights and heightened regulations of individual liberty. God help us all if they succeed.

I accept that the world is getting warmer.
I am open to the possibility it is caused by man.

I have not personally seen the ice caps melting, and I am not a meteorologist.

But if this is all just a scam, is it driven by anything other than getting the 'west' off of oil ?...because if that is the real motivation, then that is fine with me.

Yes, it is a scientific fact backed up by various indisputable observable facts, like melting/receding glaciers.

What is causing it is unconfirmable. The Earth has always gone through cooling & heated cycles, without Mans contributions.
Al Gore is a bit looney with his agenda. In the 70's everyone was talking about "global cooling", but they where also telling me the killer bees where on there way up from South America and that when I grew up I would be using the metric system for everything.
