This is what he did wrong..day one of the firings,,what he should have said....." these us attorneys serve at the convenience of the president, he has a total right to fire as he sees fit...During the Clinton presidency, Bill Clinton fired x amount in the first week .. we should have done this on day one as he did but we did it now instead" The End no more explanation needed...no controversy at all its a fact...it makes no differnce when, where or how they are fired, at all...

Where did Gonzales go wrong? Why did he resign? (besides being uncooperative with the FBI concerning terrorism)? Presidents fire their attorneys at the beginning of their terms, not 6 years later as a political vendetta. "Neocons", you need to educate yoursleves on American Government". Quit being such easy and willing sheep! Here's how; 1. Educate yourselves. ( I know it's easier to just follow other conservatives, but you really need to learn to think for yourselves) 2.Do research. (this is part of educating yourselves...it doesn't mean only watch Fox News and list to Rush Linecracker...google a few facts). 3. Read between the lines of what is being "told to you" on television. (You will have to "read" most of your facts, the television media will not do ALL of the homework....yes I know, you don't like to "READ" and "THINK" at the same time, but it will be necessary to get you out of the Euphoric state your people have put you in.).. 4. We visit "parrots" at the bird sanctuary, we don't need to hear the "tune of the day" ("cut and run", "bleeders", "It's Clinton's fault", "the libs are a bunch of haters", "were're fighting for "freedom" over there and not in our backyards", bla, bla, bla, 5. Lastly you need to educate yoursleves on National Security. (Not just read an NIE summary and think the government is letting you in on a big secret only a conservative can We still haveunderstand) BECAUSE WHILE YOUR ATTENTION IS DIVERTED IN BUSH'S IRAQ....Our borders are still not controlled and monitored the way they should be. There are thousands if not millions here who are totally "undocumented" and whose wherabouts we have NO CLUE) This is our Governemnt AFTER 9/11? You people are clueless. South America is to the south of our "unprotected border" Russia and Asia lie just across the Bering Straights and down through our "unprotected" Canadian Border they will come! The middle east??? We have missles that can reach them from here!

Actually, this particular type of firing was unprecedented in American history. The normal firings take place at the beginning of an administration and all of the attorneys are replaced at that time. These firings were done for political reasons, thus injecting politics into a department that is supposed to be upholding the laws of the land, not politicized. The attorneys were Republicans, appointed by Bush in the first place!
Then he proceeded to sit in front of several congressional committees and lie time after time after time.
Also, by injecting politics into the Justice Department, he demoralized all the people working there and made it very hard for them to do their jobs.
He eroded our constitutional rights, paved the way for doing away with habeas corpus, supported torture and argued for warrantless wiretapping.
Essentially he saw his job as being Bush's personal attorney instead of representing all Americans' rights.

Aside from 145,000 violations of the Patriot Act , spying on US Citizens, the fired Attorneys issue has to do with ordering tham to file false cahrges against Democratic Candidates right before the election and firing them when they refused to take part in Election Fraud.

The attorneys he fired were not political rivals. They were "of the party" but it's speculated they were not loyal enough.
There's the warrantless wiretapping of Americans.
The so-called "torture memo."
Read some of this and you'll wonder how he got the job in the first place.

He lied.
The Attorney General of the United States of America lied.
You cannot have a chief legal officer lie repeatedly. He could have pleaded ignorance like prior people in his position but he didn't, he lied and thought he could get away with it, but he didn't...

He was stupid enough to answer a subpoena to testify under oath before the Senate. He should have known that the only reason he was there was so they could corner him into committing perjury. He was dumb. There is really no greater crime for a lawyer than to be a bad lawyer. He really needed to resign because he was not qualified for the job. Other than that he was just railroaded out on trumped up political BS.

He didn't fire political rivals. He fired presidential appointees who refused to prosecute political rivals on trumped up charges.
He also tried to take civilian surveillance to a new level of BS and even tried to get the old AG, Ashcroft to sign off on it while he was on his sick bed.
Gonzalez is basically a creep that sane people should avoid at all costs.
