Don't ever feel worthless!!!!! Apparently the jobs you applied for don't realize what a GREAT asset you'd be for them!!!!! With your own personal experience you are definitely qualified, however, the workforce people don't realize that personal experience(especially working with people with disabilities) is far more important than having an education in that field. There must be a reason why you weren't hired.....the good Lord is going to be looking out for you and you'll get a job you love!!!!! Good luck and my prayers are with you!!!!

No! you should not give up. Every Job offer is not mint for you, if it were then you will be doing everything. sometime it's a mystery how company's and business do their hiring. It suppose to be according to work experience and knowledge of the position, but we have now discovered that it's not always what you know, but whow you know. If you did a resume that will always help, if you did not, then you may want to think about that the next time you apply.......and you will be applying again I assume......maybe not with this particular company or department, but with someone els. Just view this experience as a Learning one. Maybe it's that they had already chosen someone for the position, and because it was still posited they had to still interview for the position. I have had that to happen to me, even though they had all ready made their selection on who they were going to hire" an it was not me" they still interview me anyways. I took it as an advantage to see what they are really looking for and why. So chin up ok and get back on the horse. Eventually the horse will stop bucking and you will break him.
Good Job Hunting............

Let me start with, I see why Joel is depressed, he is a piece of sh*t! Hang in there!!! Don't you dare give up! You will get the job that is right for you when the time comes. You are clearly meant for a job like that. Keep plugging away and when it is right, you will get it. More people like you are needed. Those jobs were not meant to be. I was out of work for over a year and I thought I would never find something again. Now I have the best job ever and you will too! Keep going! Too many kids need you for you to just give up. Be strong for you son. Set an example!

If you give up, I'll give up on something in my life right now You can judge if it is worth not giving up in order to not ruin my life. (you MUST 'get back on the horse')
I am working together with a woman from another country in order to see if we are as compatible in person as we are on the telephone and computer. The red tape and additional difficulties are making this a test of endurance, rather than a trip to meet a possible mate. Or at least a friend, which we already are, but if you do not do this thing, I am going to be sorely tempted to quit the whole thing.
Mostly we can hold it together through each new obstacle we face, but do us both a favor. if you go ahead with the positive it will give my heart a lift, which I sorely need from time to time to cope with our/my situation
AND you are not worthless. Gut it up, and go for it again!
This is not True Blackmail as I feel very certain that along with reflection by you, and the positive feedback from all these people out here on Y!A, you will make the proper choice!:-}

Cutemom, I have a 10 year old son who is also autistic. I know that Maryland has high demand, I dont know where you are located but some places they just dont get positions easily. I know we had to wait 2 years for him to come up to recieve an at home aid which we got luckily, and he has a teachers aid at school, is finally mainstreamed. Kennedy Krieger Institute also hires alot, but once again, this is Maryland. Keep trying, its hard to get into it, and hard to get the help when needed but not impossible. There are Thousands of kids with what our kids have, and believe me they need devoted people like yourself to help them get through. I have 3 kids total, and its been a struggle for everyone involved, my son is quite a handful, and I am required to work, so I have to get out and trust others to care for him , this terrifies me because with autism your kids look more normal, but yet wont talk, so people can become quite frustrated with them quickly. You know the deal...terrifying. Hang in there, sometimes I dont know why were put on the road we are on, but we still have to travel it anyway...Good Luck, and dont stop at 3 tries, your a POWERHOUSE!, you have 14 years in this battle allready!!! :) Take Care-Rachel.

You are not worthless. Kudos to you for being to take care of your Autistic son. I've worked in a daycare for special needs kids for 2 and 1/2 years. My two kids are Down's Syndrome. It really takes beautiful and special people to do what we do. Do not give up. Keep on trying. Things happen for a reason. The right thing will fall into your lap.
Good luck to you!!

Apparently you're in the wrong location. Like in the town where my daughter lives--the school levy failed for the 5,000th time so they cut off all special ed classes, which left my two grandsons out in the cold. They have to be tutored to allow them to be mainstreamed into the system (they're mild autistic). It's not that you're worthless but that the schools don't have the money for kids with disabilities.
Have you considered tutoring or maybe private or charter schools?
If you were in my area, I'd hire you in a heartbeat. Autism is not easy for teachers to deal with.

Don't you dare give up! You are not worthless and have a lot to offer. It is their loss for not hiring you. You will find a job.
I always try to remember that if I don't get something I really wanted, there is probably a good reason and it's for the best. I am right because usually something eeven better comes along. Stick with it and don't take it personally. I wish you all the best.

Don't give up, keep trying. My nephew has autism too and I think the aides are really great who take the time to work with him and other special needs kids. You are not worthless, your heart is definitely in the right place. Try not to be discouraged.

Don't give up! It may not be easy at first, but if it's something you want keep on trying! It's great that you volunteer at your sons school, but sounds like you want a little more...either way, it's awesome what you're doing!!! It is difficult when you first try to get back to the workforce, but if you give up you may regret that more later (just a thought). Try your best not to let it get you down (easier said than done, I know), but it doesn't mean you're a failure by any means, NEVER!!!
Take care! And, you're in my thoughts!!!
