I think the answer has to be Hillary Clinton, but I would be happy to listen to her supporters explain why I am wrong. But it seems to me that the Republicans are more demoralized and discredited than they have ever been in my lifetime. And the one candidate that can breathe the most life into the dying corpse of the Republican party is Hillary Clinton. She could well get elected, but the backlash she will create will be incredible. So my question is, why would the Democrats want that? Do they have a death wish?

You are absolutely correct that Hillary Clinton as the nominee would light the Right on fire, and I am a Hillary supporter. There are some in the party that think, as you do, that to choose her might be taking too big a risk for the Democratic Party in '08. But I am with the other side that believes she can withstand it, and even be further energized herself, by the challenge alone. She and the Right have an endless well of hatred for each other.

It will mean a race that is so fiercely fought that it will likely make history in itself, no matter the outcome. But you know the bottom line for me? I believe in Hillary. I believe she is the best chance we have to put the mess in order that will be left behind on January 20, 2009. I think that the Republicans underestimate her terribly. Just in the last three months, she has gone from 49% who would never vote for her to 34% in the same category.

If the Democrats nominate her it will be because she is the best candidate for the job. IF they choose her, I think we will see a Democratic Party that will rival the Republicans when it comes to cohesiveness and support for their candidate, something not seen from the Dems in many moons. Add Obama as VP and watch the Republicans tremble, and I'm not trying to be a smart aleck. The easiest road is not always the right road to take, and think of the alternatives. I am even less confident that Obama, or Edwards, can win against the Republicans. Who else is there that can take her spot as front runner and is really strong enough to give the Republicans a run for their money? As yet, I haven't seen any Democrats other than her that might be up to the task.

I don't think it matters who the Democratic nominee will be, ANY Democratic candidate who goes on to the election is going to be a target of the right wing noise machine.

Nobody knows this more than Hillary, who has been a target of the rightwingers for some time.

The only solution is to fight back, HARD, and respond to any and all nonsense coming from the Republicans. Don't make the mistake of Kerry in dismissing the Swift Boaters.

Sure, Hillary may have some negatives, but don't forget - the possible Republican candidates aren't necessarily going to match up well against her. Giulani, McCain, Romney, Thompson all have their problems too.

Why can no longer a liberal have a communicate, make a controversy, devoid of calling names? Why is it that as quickly as your regulations do no longer paintings, this is because of the fact a of a conspiracy? Liberals had forty years of capacity, and dug a extensive hollow. Conservatives have had capacity 10 years, and made strides to straighten it up, and however the libs won't admit they have been incorrect? yet, with a quickly face circuitously, they call the conservatives stupid, pedophiles, liars, and cheaters. seem at your man or woman occasion, your man or woman way of existence, the way you manage others... get yours quickly till now you come attempting to restoration mine. Now, i'm no longer disgusted by way of the GOP front runners, Hunter, Romney, Giuliani, and Huckabee are making suitable sense. they're taking us back to domicile. Bush did what I despatched him there to do, he outfitted some bridges, yet regularly beat the Demos at their own recreation (and this is using them loopy). everybody's taxes are decrease, the inventory industry and the financial gadget are the two reliable, unemployment is decrease then ever, the dollar is robust foreign places, and existence regularly is greater helpful then this is been because of the fact that 1988. Republicans could be ecstatic with regard to the imminent election. do no longer pay attention to the doom and gloom media, they want you to think of this is all undesirable so which you will % their recent communist, I recommend liberal, candidate. stay centred, save smiling, because of the fact this is all stable.

Let's pretend that Republicans really are demoralized by the Gonzales and Libby witch hunts.

What is it that they expect them to do? Vote Democrat?

I suspect that even a demoralized Republican will find the energy to vote against Hillary.

Talk about knowing the answer before you asked the question.

Of course it's the Carpetbagger. You can basically write off the South and the West outside of the Left Coast if she's the nominee, and if the GOP nominates someone like Giuliani who can get moderate voters, the Rust Belt comes into play.

That's a tough question, none of them are worth a damn. I suspect that Hillbilly will cause the most energy in the GOP but all of them are about worthless.

I think the first woman president will have to be a conservative like Maggy Thatcher, Liberals are just so far off in left field with their extremist positions it will be a sad day if Hillbilly gets elected.

As a conservative women, I am looking at voting for Hillary if she were to win the Democratic nomination. There is no one in my party that I can identify with, and the fact that they are all white males tell you something about my party.

Oh the winds of change are blowing and I doubt anything will resuscitate the extreme right wing. Hillary, or any of the current Democratic front runners would make excellent Presidents.Let's face it, it was Karl Rove who inflammed the extreme right wing by tossing up emotionally-charged issues right before the election & then the party failed to deliver.
