Something I find of intrest was the Tsavo maneating Lions. Two maneless, large and aggressive lions that killed 135 workers in Kenya. This story was turned into a pretty acurate movie called the Ghost and the Darkness.

The story of King Edward II was also pretty fascinating.

How he was hated as a king, how he finally became dethroned, then, murdered in a horrific way.

So it's your turn - what story in history that captivated you, or horrified you, or delighted you? Provide links to sites if you can so we can all read about it :)

What has intrested me throughout History is War. How it changes the course of history, how it creates countries, but at the same time has the power to destroy Countries. It is a human yet a natural force that is beyond the mundane and almost magical.
Also a number of people have fascinated me, people like Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin. How can someone be so cruel, and so evil, and yet good to their nation. (In the matter of Economy and production)
The very movement of History Fascinates me, and History is like a river if you look into it you see yourself, you can see the reflection of Mankind. You dig and you find things that can horrify, fascinate, and sometimes teach you very important lessons.

The most fascinating individual I have studied in history is Alexander the Great, particularly his being hailed as a god in Egypt, his burning of Persepolis on a drunken bet, and his siege of Malla where he fought off opponents single-handedly.

And hopefully what you know about Edward II is not limited to wikipedia, because that site is not reputable. Anybody can post there. Don't get your historical information from there.

Personal Opinion, Apollo 11's landing on the moon in1969. It was a captivating moment around the world. It shows what's possible when we work for a common cause.
