Not all aggression is phsiological. Alot of it is psychological and there is alot of it which is just purely a matter of conditioning. The main reason for not giving oestrogen to prisoners is because it only addresses one of the 3 causes and by the time they are violent enough to end up in prison it is the psychological and environmental conditioning that is the primary driver. Very few prisoners are in there just because they have too much testosterone or not enough oestrogen.

Did you mean Estrogen? Estrogen is a female hormone. The prisoners (if they were male) would grow female-type breasts. The prison system would not give Estrogen to male prisoners as a rule. Many problems (including female breasts making the male inmates more attractive) would ariseif they tried to give prisoners Estrogen. Female prisoners would only be given Estrogen for female hormone replacement, generally after a Hysterectomy (removal of ovaries, the female reproductive organs that make Estrogen)

Well, I know some ex-cons are going to jump all over this comment, But here goes...If you are convicted of murder, there is NO CRUEL & UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT. You have taken the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness away from somebody FOREVER...(not to mention someones child, brother, father, etc...) You should only live as long as it takes for the next kid to need a kidney, or heart, and then you give it up! No need for estrogen or feeding you for years and years, and have better health care than I can afford with a full time job!

becuase that would be a cruel and inhumane punishment. Have you ever been in a prison? Do you even know what you are talking about.
In fact 85% of prisoners are good people who are their for non violent crimes and just want to get out and go back to their life and family

first of all, it would be unusual/cruel punishment. Sencondly, just because testosterone tends to make people more aggresive, doesn't mean that estrogen will make them less aggresive. In fact I haven't tested this, but it's possible that the high estrogen levels could cause a feedback effect which would cause the testes to produce MORE testosterone.

Drugging an inmate goes against Human Rights Laws I believe, unless the patient needs to be drugged to decrease episodes of anggresion, otherwise, no, against Human Rights Laws.

Estrogen does not make women less aggressive you boob. But I will agree to provide estrogen to inmates at tax payer expense when they first cover FREE women who want estrogen yet have no insurance or their insurance doesn't cover all the expenses for estrogen

8th Amendment prohibits cruel and inhuman punishment.
Forcing convicts to take drugs is cruel and inhuman because the side effects can't be predicted.
Besides, most people in the federal prison system are there for using drugs. Kind of hypocritical to lock them up for taking drugs then forcing them to take drugs, isn't it?
