Political correctness.
There's no need to be polite 100% of the time. Being such a "touchy-feely" nation, concerned so much about how people "feel," and not about right vs. wrong, has turned us into a bunch of wusses with no morals other than the ones we define with our laws.

Destroy the big business/lobbying influence on politicians. They should be working for all of us not just the richest of the rich and some of the most politically extreme of the country. I've never understood how anyone can justify the influence special interest groups have when they are a small percentage of the total in this country.

Education reform. Teach kids in High School marketable job skills so they can earn something more than minimum wage. That will rebuild the middle class, boost the economy, increase tax revenues,and improve quality of life.

Term limits for Congress. 12 years maximum in either House. Also make House elections every 4 years rather than every 2.

get rid of the electoral college and let the true voice of the people be heard and instead of a two party system go to a three party system more choices means more competition and less chance that all could be corrupt

The idea that the gov't working for the citizens does not spell socialism. Socialism and communism relate simply to economic terms and the control of the means of production.
