i guess ostracized isn't the right word. i'm just looking for someone who believed something that nobody thought was true that turned out actually to be fact.

Copernicus- believed that the earth revolves around the sun, not the other way around.

Kind of random but it just popped into my head! : )

It seems that most people who are right or good come out " on top" in the end. Some examples would be womens and blacks rights. They eventually gained what they were fighting for.

Coppernicus and Gallileo both wrote books explaining that the Earth and other planets revolved around the sun (heliocentric theory). Back then, most people believed in the
geocentric theory (everything revolves around the Earth. The Catholic Church supported this theory and would punish anyone for believing otherwise. Coppernicus was a little more quiet about his book, but Gallileo published his and had to face the Inquisition. He recanted (probably becuase he was seventy and didn't feel like being tortured). We all know now that his theory was correct.

jan huss john wycliffe basically called for the old corrupt medieval church to turn their ways around and change the church. This was around 13-1400. They were both killed by the church.

They were killed, and their ideas only picked up by a movement called the protestant reformation. Luther and Calvin shared many of the same ideas as them.
