I find that books by Thomas H. Cook really grab you. Particularly Instrument of Night. After I finished that book, everytime I thought about the end over the next few days, I would still shiver.

Jeffery Deaver, Dennis Lehane, David Morrell and Lee Child, in my opinion they are the best thriller writers in the business!! I am a avid reader in this genre and have read Coben, King, Koontz, F. Paul Wilson, Connelly, and many others but none can touch these authors I've listed! The Deaver book I've just finished reading now is "The Sleeping Doll"--a brand new release and has literally keeped me up at nights!! I'm quite sure you'll love his other thrillers as well, such as "The Bone Collector", "A Maiden's Grave", "The Coffin Dancer", "Praying For Rain", "Cold Moon", "The Twelveth Card", "The Vanished Man", "Devil's Tear Drop" et el. For Lehane, start with "A Drink Before War" (don't let the title fool you) then "Darkness Take My Hand", "Sacred", "Gone, Baby Gone", "Prayers For Rain", "Shutter Island" and "Mystic River." For Lee Child, you can start with his first and move forward, but it's Ok if you don't. Some personal favs are: "One Shot", "Trip Wire", "Hard Luck and Trouble"--a new release, "The Persuader"-my personal fav, "The Hard Way", but they are all page turners! Also, last but definately not least is David Morrell. All his books are good, but I especially enjoy his last two releases "Creepers" and "Scavenger" which are guaranteed page-turners. Enjoy, Greg

Clive Cussler is pretty good. If you want more of a spy themed adventure story, try his tales known as the "Oregon Files" co-written by Jack Du Brul and Craig Dirgo. The premise is former CIA agent Juan Cabrillo has set up an old freighter, The Oregon, with the latest high tech arms, surveillance, and engines. With the ship still disguised as an old freighter, it has no problems traveling the globe for whatever covert operations people will pay for. I recommend "Sacred Stone" and "Skeleton Coast" from this series.
One word of caution, Cussler loves lots of set-up, so it will take a while before you get to the plot. This is true of almost all of Cussler's books.

If you try ICE STATION by Matthew Reilly, I can almost 100% guarantee that you won't want to put it down until you are finished. If when you read books you can actually see in your minds eye the story unfolding like a movie in your head, you will want to read everything Mr. Reilly has written. But I would start with ICE STATION. It takes off at about the third paragraph and doesn't stop until the end of the book. One hell of a great read!

attempt Douglas Preston's "The Codex" for a secret. Tony Hillerman's Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee mysteries (start up with "The Listening female") is a great secret sequence. the perfect of the sequence, IMO, are "The Ghostway," "The speaking Gods," and "looking Badger." Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt thoughts are great, extra of an action tale than secret; yet his writing type is slightly unique-what share authors throw away 4 or 5 sturdy plot recommendations in each and each tale?

You won't do much better than Mary Higgins Clark's 'The Cradle Will Fall'. This master of tension makes you want to reach into the pages of the book and shake the heroine while you scream at her, "Don't do it! Don't go there!"
Ummm - did I mention I enjoyed it?.
