WHY CANT PEOPLE FIGURE OUT THAT DIVIDE AND CONQURE IS HOW THEY CONTROL US??? ITS US AGAINST THEM. THE SECRET GOVERNMENT CONTROLS MANY PUPPETS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ISLE. LOK AT THE INDIVIDUAL, NOT THE PARTY, ANYONE NOT OPENLY DISCUSSING AND STRONGLY OPPOSING THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION, INTENDS ON SELLING US OUT TO ONE GOVERNMENT FOR THREE COUNTRIES, DISOLVING OUR BORDERS. LOOSING OUR FREEDOM.

You really have lost it. You have no question here, just a rant, in violation of Y!A guidelines.
Ron Paul can't run a corner drug store, much less the Executive Branch.
How successful has he been in getting his proposals through Congress, where they belong?
Not very? yep...and you think he'll do better in the White House, where he has to run the Executive Branch?

My political science professor back in college always scoffed at the idea that there was any real practical difference between the parties, that there were only the "ins" and the "outs".
A lot of people will complain about Democrats this and Republicans that, but I really don't buy into the idea that either of them is a monolithic group of people who all feel the same way on any given issue. And I agree that we are being sold an "image" of each party that is not necessarily true.
That's why it's important to see how politicians have voted (that's IF they have voted) on the issues that are most important to us.
But definitely, people are misled by party PR, and worse, by each other.
Unfortunately, this question has already been used as an excuse to take cheap shots at the current US president, from a resident of no less a world power than Australia.

People fall for the left right thing because they want to believe that they have a choice.
That said, we are no longer in the political vacuum of the 60s through 80s, there is infact a choice. Both sides may have alot in common, but that is because there are alot of things that we all agree we need. Health, education, social welfare. The points of differentiation are generally few and far between and so many elections are won and lost on fairly minute points.
Today however there are HUGE differences between the conservative republicans and the liberal democracts, just look at their candidates. Yes they all agree on the basics and if you take that as all that matters they are the same, but if you look at the detail there are many critical points which, though minor, are very significant.

You are correct. The Old Divide and Conquer is alive and well, and so is Stupidity. The other Weapon that they use is to get rid of Morality. It would do people that live in the United States well, to read what caused the collapse of the Roman Empire. History does repeat itself and that's sad.

Constant manipulation, brain washing by the media, government education system and our 'leaders' has had its effect. But fortunately, because of the free speech on the internet, people are slowly waking up.
Thanks to Ron Paul atleast people are begining to understand what American constitution is about.

People, for the most part are easily manipulated and are generally dumb.
Think about it. We are being systematically dumbed down through constant exposure to fluoride, mercury, and reality TV.
When you consider that almost 60 million people voted for GW Bush the last time around, it really illustrates this.

I've been saying it again and again, but I guess I'm going about it wrong. I know it's all a distraction, but I don't know how to get my point through to people. One thing I do know is people turn away from ideas that don't already fit their frame of thought, and when you bombard them with too much at once, they turn away.

Party lines were created so that you know what your canidate believe's in, or his policy's. But that is when we did not have radio or television. Now we should just go off what they are saying, not whether the are Dem. or Rep. All politicians on both sides have their own agenda.
