Hey my daughter is 13 and she and her friends are planning a huge hallowwen party (150 people [boys and girls] plus guests of those invited). We are renting a DJ for the night, is there anything else that's not too "dorky" (dorky, in my daughters words, being musical chairs, bobbing for apples, etc) that would liven up the party? Decoration ideas, things to do, games, etc, anything at all would be a great help!

Instead of writing everything coherently, I'm just going to make a list:

Liability waivers
Candy buffet
Haunted house (duh)
Bobbing for pears
Fireworks (sparklers, etc.)
Movie (Use a projector and get a 200" screen or bigger)
Dry ice/water

Maybe a trivia contest- all kinds of Halloween trivia. Kids can work in teams to get the answers. Those with the most correct answers win prizes.

A scavenger hunt? Clues can be placed around the party area- party goers find the clues and write down the answers and move on to the next clue/destination. Draw names for prizes at the end.

Contest for costume and dancing or something like that.

Does your daughter have any ideas?

bobbing for apples would possibly be a lot more fun than your daughter thinks.
If there is a Halloween Express anywhere in your area, they have great decorations that party city doesn't have.

Decorations:
Streamers, black lights, florescent paint, orange lights, red lights, cauldrons with dry ice and water instead of a fog machine (for kids with asthma) ( witches' brew for punch) , Chalk body lines, caution tape, graveyards, Halloween music mixed in with the kids' choice of music ( like the monster mash), scream tracks, have different stuffed sitting scarecrows and one or two that are real people, frozen fake eyeballs in the punch instead of melting ice, various bloody limbs laying around, confetti and balloons, carved pumpkins, flying fiends (witches, ghosts, etc.)

Things to do:
costume contest, have tables where the kids can make things like candles or carve pumpkins or paint Halloween pottery, face painting.... Have chairs set aside to be able to play musical chairs if push comes to shove, and have a barrel out for bobbing for apples. Make up your own game...

Witches' brew is home made root beer.
Buy a bottle of sassafras and some dry ice and water.. I don't remember the recipe, but you could possibly find it easily, but it's root beer in a bowl that has the smoke coming out of it so it looks like it's bubbling...

It's not really a Halloween party without the corny games..

Good Luck!
