I was the best I could be for another, & not the best I could be for myself as there wasn't enough of me. But I survived, & would do the same again.

No. If I were the best I could be, then that would mean, that I can't be any better. I can and will grow everyday, if I don't make mistakes, then I won't learn. Therefore I can't grow. Sometimes finding out how to be the best is by dropping the ball. Adversity is also a test on being the best for yourself also. If you can't pick yourself up, or another, than you failed. Failure is when you give up. Not seceding, is how I look at things I don't accomplish

In my job, I find myself constantly playing the 'what if' game. A bad decision can be disasterous for myself and others. But I do my best, hope that it IS the right decision and then have to let it go. Whatever happens after that I have to understand that at that moment of time, I've done the best I could have done, even if it was, on average, a sub par personal performance... basically, we are all human. I learn from my mistakes, but I will make new ones... that is certain.

Peace

Everytime I do something, I do it with my heart. But then, I often end up wondering if I really have done enough. There's always this feeling like there's got be more,..but whatever is that I got to do more, I'm really not so sure. I guess this is what they call personal limit. No matter how much effort I exert, there's still something left to be filled.
Being the best I could be to the other person is certainly not all mine to say. Would I ever know the measure of content in one's heart? Could I have given just what was expected of me? Was it the best of me for her? I could not vouch for her assertion. I could only wish I did.

NO. I think I wasn't (for both, myself or another)
Some of the reasons?

It has sometimes to be the other one (too) keen for you do/be the best of you can. This simple loving desire would bring back to them much more, maybe, or anyhow great reword ...
It has you to be somehow, someway helped in finding your ways, for yourself and by yourself (e. g. in the childhood).

This is the the greatest thing you can do for your children, or for anybody else - to help them to kindle their own interior light

If I was the only one is the world, I wouldn't care about my actions so much, yet since I co-exist that changes everything.
But I digress,
I believe being the best person you can be for others most times is being the best person you can be for yourself.
So I try to help others as much as possible.

I am always the best I can be and what makes the person I am is because I always think of others and what is best for them.

If you want to know the answer to this question, then please read my response to this question, asked by Top Of The Line: What reaction do you have when people try to pull you apart from somebody who you care about? If you don't feel like flipping back to that page, then that's ok by me.

for another...i don't know. because if that "another" was a vital part of me he/she would never expect the best of me.

for myself, i tried yesterday, i am trying today, i will try tomorrow to be the best for myself. because if i will the best for myself, i will eventually be the best for another.

:)
