GEEZE it's not a race issue, It is the fact that he harmed dogs, THAT ARENT EVEN HUMAN BY THE WAY!!!

I THINK HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED. But jail time? That's just ridiculous. I know people that hunt for game and they don't get convicted for killing an animals. PEOPLE CAN'T HUNT HUMANS!! THAT IS MURDER. IT'S JUST AN ANIMAL GEEZE. You shouldn't take his race into account. When I watched "Animal Rescue", no one blew any of those incidents out of proportion.

The people that have attempted to move this issue to the Race Zone, are the high-dollar lawyers that are clamoring here for ANYTHING to get some relief from the weight of the charges against this man !! They know that if they can get the slightest leverage with this topic, they will come out better in the long run with the final slap !!!! When weighed against the severity of the evidence in this matter -- makes no difference at all --- white, black, brown, or chartroise -- this matter should get a full measure of slap down !!! BUT -- oddly enough, in America -- you will see this play out --- you get exactly the justice that you pay for !! This case isn't about race at all. White people get arrested for dog fighting every day. It is just that you only see it on Animal planet. Watch Animal Cops: Houston, Animal Precinct, they show dog fighting arrests all the time. Vick is in the news not because he is black but because he is famous. Do you think there would be any less attention if it was Peyton Manning? I just don't understand why you want to make this into a race issue when it is just a stupid celebrity gossip piece.

If it were only as simple as "it's just an animal" then it would be easier in the make believe world some people live in.
There is no race card, let's get off that train already, I mean just damn let's all evolve here.
The fact of the matter is dog fighting is ILLEGAL, regardless of what race, PERIOD. Animal Cruelty is ILLEGAL, PERIOD. Regardless of what race anyone is that is the law plain and simple. Mr. Vick chose to break the law by financing illegal dogfighting, therefore implicating himself in the mix. Also, Mr. Vick had the personal pleasure of executing dogs himself, thus the cruelty charge. Yes, it is "just an animal" as you so eloquently put it however; you would feel differently if it were "your" animal. Clearly you are not a Law major.

Hunters shoot to kill and eat. They do not entice animals to tear each other apart literally and then hours later after all the money has passed hands drag the suffering loser to its death by drowning or electrocution.

The first person to make it a race issue was a black person, I have not heard one white person blame his race for his behavior only blacks saying that it could be thought of that way.

He deserves the maximum jail time for being part of that so called sport. Check your information, google dog fighting and watch a real video of what happens to these animals and watch what happens to the injured after the fight. If you truly do think it is only an animal after watching that than please think hard. That kind of cruelty to animals is only the first step in hurting children and adults. Any living being deserves to be respected and not tortured.

Please do all the research before condemning white people and go to a pet store and hold a puppy for a few minutes after watching a dog fight and see how you feel.

media makes the vick case a race issue. they know that if this gets full news coverage that some bigoted white people will voice their bigoted opinions on places like Yahoo answers. Not all whites, just the ones that have negative opinions and provide the best stories. On the flip side, you will only also hear opinions from blacks that support him and want to pull the race card. The fact of the matter is that most black/white/hispanics/asians, etc. don't give a flying sh* about Michael Vicks case. Jail or not, it wont effect me or them. But the media loves to keep racism going and they do it by airing constreversial opinions because they get ratings.

I cannot stand Nancy Grace, but what she said the other day is absolutely right (to some guy complaining Vick was being prosecuted because he is black). She said, "Guess what, dogs are colorblind." Yes, he broke the law and needs to go to jail. Is it right for jail time? Maybe, maybe not. People eat dogs in other countries. But from a legal standpoint, he broke a federal law and will pay for what he did.

It's hardly a race issue. Dog fighting is repugnant, and they arrest people doing it all over the place and nearly every day, too. Vick is just a public sports figure his race has nothing to do with it.

I do believe it is blacks that make it a race issue. The fact is dog fighting is illegal and the punishment is prison time that seems to vary. He won't be the only one. Calling for him to be banned from the NFL for life is overboard.
