Be of service, do not fill up the void completely with service. A start is by answering these questions, I feel a void to spread wisdom, so I am answering your question. and suprisingly I didn't know why I just began answering, but now that you asked, I know.
Thank you very much for asking this, it has made my day.
Best wishes of balance I send to you anonymous one

I've been an active Christian for so long I honestly forgot that people have a void inside. I'm also an actress and had to play a definite non-Christian for one role. I couldn't ask God to leave, so I asked Him to make Himself very small so He wouldn't show through my eyes, just while I performed this character. He did, and for the first time I could recall, I felt that horrible void that many people live with on a daily basis. That void felt awful, and I suddenly understood why some people drink. I would try anything to get rid of that empty feeling, too, if I didn't know what it was.
Of course, just giving God a casual mention in your life isn't going to do anything. "Trying religion" or just going to church or "being good" won't do a thing for that void. The only thing that really fills it is God. You have to give yourself completely to Him, too, and ask Him to come fill you. It's not a "Sunday only" thing or a part-time thing at all. God doesn't work that way. You don't get something for nothing, even with God -- contrary to what many of the currently popular feel-good preachers would have you believe.

Service toward others. It somehow always has a way of filling that void. Just the feeling that you receive, when you know that an action you have done, no matter how small, may have been exactly what someone needed at that moment. It reminds you that what you do DOES matter, it DOES make a difference. You are significant. It reminds you that you are a part of this, we ALL are a part of this, and that we are all in it together. All your feelings of loneliness seem to go away, because you realize how connected we all actually are. :)

A double meat cheese whopper with fries fills the void quite nicely.

Most times the void is a screaming hunger for knowledge.
So I'll just go down to the library and grab a couple books at random.

Miss T, a good question. Apart from doing my chores at home, i join the parish Bible study, renewal prayer service, contributing a column in each month to the journal, sharing my knowledge (to the extent God has given me) with all around the world thru this forum' n above all giving Geriatric care to the lonely senior citizens thru an NGO.

I suggest you go buy the audio book on cd of Eckhart Tolle's, "The Power of Now." That way, you cannot get hung up on a foreign concept and quit reading... just keep listening. This text had an INSTANT positive effect on me. I am on the road to healing, and feeling whole, after listening to this book...and I have let go of the pain and emptyness of a lifetime. They say, "If the student is ready, the teacher will appear." If you are ready for it, it has the power to transform your life.
If you get it, email me and let me know what you think. It's $39.95 for the 7 cds. Expensive, I know. But worth a million dollars to me.

The more you think of the void, the greater it becomes. Find somethings else to think about.
