Personally, I think the Federal Government, and all government for that matter, has no right to stick their noses into dog fighting. Those dogs, pitbulls, LOVE TO FIGHT. They are FIGHTERS by nature. it is their NATURAL instinct to FIGHT. When one pitbull sees another, it attacks. it's that simple.
So why would the federal govt or any government have anything to say about something that is, in ACTUAL REALITY, NATURAL? And what is it with all the people who think dog's that are born to fight to the death (that is their purpose in life, by instinct) are more important than the Iraqi women, children and of course the less valuable of all, men are being slaughtered for the benefit of the Federal Reserve? Why is it that people care about these stupid killer dogs and let people be murdered for years on end?
I don't get it.
I can't wait to hear some of the intelligent remarks that will discount human life and make the life of a DOG more important. Remember, Bush TORTURES people.

Me, me, me!
I think that anyone practice cruelty to animals (or humans for that matter) for profit is a legal matter that should be addressed by the all ranks of government.
You are absolutely right. Breeders have taken the least social and most vicious of their litters and focused the breeding on producing an animal with high drive and low sensitivity. Here where I live the ranchers are breeding Pit Bulls and Border Collies. They are called Border-Pits. They will push and push and push. The problem is they tear up the livestock, so ranchers end up having to really be heavy handed to control them. Most here at my shelter do not pass temperament testing because they are so high drive and are difficult to control around people. We do not deal in ranch dogs specifically so it is a fine line, putting something on the floor that could attack a child while trying to herd it. They are euthanized most often.
As ambassadors of the breed they must not exhibit aggression at any level, which if you know of their breed characteristics this is not innate of the Pit Bull's personality. It is something that has been encouraged through line-breeding.

So according to you since the President of the United States makes poor decisions it should be okay for someone else to purposefully inflict pain on another living creature? This makes no sense at all... YES the government has every right to prosecute Michael Vick and anyone else that seeks entertainment this way.
Pitbulls are not natural fighters. They are just as protective as any living creature. They are intelligent and strong animals that are taught to live aggressively when used in that manner.

The NAACP in Virginia said that we, the public, should forgive and forget, and to let Vick get on with his financial career.
When we have the NAACP forgive and forget Jimmy the Greek and Don Imas?
Now we are told that, if you are a black celebrity, making in excess of $100 million a year, we must cut some slack.
The man broke the law, let him do the time. No one held a gun to his head. He made a rationale decision, now he must accept his responsibility for what he has done.

What I wonder is why there isn't nearly as much outrage over other NFL players who arranged to kill their pregnant girlfriends, got into a hot tub with an underage babysitter and some of her friends, killed a mother while drunk driving, and possibly murdered his ex-wife and her friend. What Michael Vick did was despicable but how was it worse than these other offenses?

Actually, the feds are not prosecuting dog fighting. They have no right or authority to do that. The State of Va. does.
They are prosecuting interstate gambling on the dog fighting which they do have the authority.

You end it with Bush tortures people. You lost all credibility. You are nothing but just another stupid fool who has the morals of a pig. You think watching animal rip each other to shreds should be legal? Why don't you take your third world ways somewhere else. Your kind isn't wanted here.

This is about sensationalizing a problem with a celebrity. I don't care about this. None of us should care. It's not a national issue. It's not even an NFL issue. It's one man's issue. He has enough money to pay for the best defense possible.
This is just like the OJ thing. The whole thing is a dramatic, useless form of entertainment.
