My answer is not theoretical - - - I could actually live anywhere I wanted to, and I made my choice. Tagaytay.

The weather is good year round, even while it gets rather hot in summer. Fruits and vegetables are abundant. The meat market is famous such that people from Manila even drive down south to buy meat there. The tawilis, maliputo, and tilapia from Taal Lake are dishes tourists from Manila crave for when they have lunch in Tagaytay restaurants.

Eating out is glorious, what with several choices, all of them in prime locations on the ridge overlooking the world's smallest active volcano.

It is so accessible, such that shopping choices would include 2 major malls in Dasmarinas, as well as the Makati malls.

Gardening is good, and plants for transplanting are varied, and inexpensive, at the Bypass Road.

Furniture is good, and can be made to order along the Sta Rosa Road..

I could not have made a better choice..

Where I live, Baguio...

For the following reasons:

1. The highest temperature in Baguio is the lowest in all other places...

2. The people here have branded clothes but pay 3 for 100...go to Bayanihan hotel and Hilltop and you would see so many ukay-ukay stores...

3. The social climate is relaxed, the main roads are only busy during rush hours while the access roads are almost always quiet.

4. There are a lot of things that make Baguio look bad, but in the end if you live in the secluded pineclad hills, (and believe me, a lot of people live there), you could actually sip hot choco while you watch the fog settle down.

5. It's a city where you meet someone you know everytime you go out, whether it be in the mall or the bank or anywhere else.

6. Did I mention that it gets very very very cold from December to February...9 degrees? Yup, the mittens and the bonnets do have a use...

1. Cebu - though it's a bit cosmopolitan, it's not as crowded as Manila. Lifestule there is still laidback They have nice places to eat there. Cebu also has an international airport so easy to travel anywhere else. Cebu has nice beaches, tredny bars and restaurants, nice malls and nicer people. It is very near Bohol and other places of interest in Visayas like Boracay, Dumaguete etc..

2. Malaybalay, Bukidnon - very peaceful, nice weather, charming people. Very idyllic place. With mountains that surrounds the area. Almost zero crime rate, no typhoon and flooding and a place where you can get around easily. Most places are within reach since it's a small place. Though there's no major mall except Gaisano, there are many things you can do like horseback riding, hiking, trail riding, go to the monastery of configuration etc.. It has a nature park also.

Bearing into mind I am from Australia.

I would live around Bauang Beach San Fernando La Union for the following reasons.

1 The beach is nice and very quiet in the low season
2 It is a very safe part of the Philippines
3 There are several resorts run by Australians, Americans, Englishman and Swedes. This makes for a very varied choice of foods.
4 Because of the vast amount of Westerners in La Union, a lot of travelling knowledge is available.
5 It is easy to get to Angeles and Manila by bus

Most important it is cheap
Regards
Slak

If you want a quiet place to live in, try Baguio or Tagaytay or you can check some provinces in Vizayas but if you are used in partying and going out, Manila, Quezon City, or Makati were some of the best choices.

I'd live in my hometown.... Pangasinan........ because that's the the place where I grew up..... and I just love it there because of the beaches, places, people, etc.......................

If I could buy another house as a vacation house............... I would buy properties in Tagaytay/Baguio, Cebu, or Palawan................ Tagaytay or Baguio because it's kinda cold there, and has natural wonders and beautiful places, etc..... OR Cebu because I love the beaches, and nice modern sights, etc..... OR in Palawan..... beautiful places, nice beaches, lots of adventures, gorgeous exotic sights, etc.....

If I could have another house for businesses, or civilized area..... I would go to Manila...... civilized, modernized, lots of great shopping malls, nice places, country's top melting pot, etc................
