Bush's friends protect him. Cheney probably ran the presidency for bush early in his first term.
Gonzo in the Justice dept was probably a big help. Saved his bacon with the DWI thing and probably protected the White House and Rove with the judgegate thing. Gave Tenent a big medal for ???

the Bush family and their friends are technically American citizens only out of convenience. they actually see themselves as global corporate citizens. they have zero allegiance to the USA, care nothing abut the American people, and are concerned only with wealth, power, and dominance.

Put it this way. George Bush is not the sharpest tool in the shed. He didn't become president because he is so intelligent and charismatic.

His friends and connections got him to president, and now he is indebted to them.

Many of "his friends", as you so cleverly put it, are entrusted with protecting the country, among other things. Democrats hate it when Republican appointees do their jobs well (especially when those appointees are doing the exact same thing that certain Democrat appointees have done), and will say & do anything to bring them down &/or force them to quit.
