Some ppl say its 36-37 weeks. I am due on December 9th. And since this wld be my second pregnancy ( after a failed first one), I was wondering what if the labor pains start on its own? What are the chances of labor pains starting after 36 weeks? Or they can be triggered off earlier? A planned C-section is better to get done at which week the earliest that the baby doesnt get any problems and is healthy? Thanks.

I would suggest to wait until 38-39 weeks. Working in the NICU, I have seen many babies 37 and some 38 weeks that have problems cause they just weren't quite ready to enter this world.

At 37 weeks the baby is concerned full-term. I have a clotting disorder and my doctors debated on when to induce me. One doctor said 36 weeks, but my two other doctors agreed on 38 weeks. Everything went fine for me and I had a healthy baby girl.

I guess it depends on your situation. But I felt comfortable with 37 or 38 weeks.

well at 36 weeks the baby is done with major development and from that point on is just gaining weight. I would think the dr would give you a time frame, but im going to guess it will be 38 weeks.

I had 2 babies and they were both early! I had one at 34 weeks and the other at 35 weeks. they both were healthy enough to go home with me 2 days after they were born. the biggest thing was the youngest ad yellow jaundice for about 3 days and it cleared up with a billi light. also they weighed 6 lbs12oz and 6 lbs 13oz

unless there's some kind of health issue with the baby or mother, c-sections typically are done at week 38 or after. before you have a chance of the lungs not being fully developed

Usually the OBGYN will advise you of a time to get this done. Keep in mind babies after 37 weeks are considered full term before that they are considered pre term. Make sure your little one is in there as long as possible.
