How long should I wait to ask this student out on a date? Should I even ask her out, I realize this question might seem wrong, but Im really confused...

It depends on a number of factors- is she over 18? what age are you? do you get the feeling she's interested? But being a high school teacher, you're obviously quite smart, if you think it's appropriate, go for it! And good luck!! (",)

Eww, eww, and eww. I am a 22 year old hs teacher (I just started my 2nd year.) Last year, as a 21-yr old teacher, I could never have imagined dating any of my students, even after they graduated. Keep in mind there would only be a 3 year age difference. You do not include your age, but regardless, you should not pursue your students. . .EVER. There is a boundary that you should not cross as a teacher. In high schools, rumors spread wildly. Something that occurred first period is general knowledge by 5th. You do not need to be the subject of controversy nor lose the respect of your future students and peers.

Yup...it's wrong. Don't get yourself into this mess. The parents could go to the principal or school board and you could be in a lot of trouble, regardless of the fact that you were nice enough to wait until she graduated.

whether or not it is legal it is not smart. You will always be the teacher who asked a former student out. That gets around. If the young lady chooses to reject you the gossip will kill you. If she chooses to accept you the gossip will kill you. DO NOT DO THIS

If she is 18 or older and has graduated, then I guess you could ask her out....but unless you feel there is a vibe, it may not be the best idea; especially if you feel there is even a remote chance that you'll be turned down.

i wouldn't ask the student out. It isn't professional. It would or could implicate that you were inapproproiate while she/he was your student. It jeopardizes your credibility and your standing in your work community.
