It seems that I remember doing that. Especially later in pregnancy when the baby was up against my diaphragm and I couldnt get a deep breath.
Pregnancy also swells your sinus tissue making it hard to breathe through your nose, many women complain about stuffy noses.
You might want to mention it at your next check up, theres a chance that you might have some sleep apnia due to pregnancy that might require treatment.

oh goodness, i would definetly call the dr and let them know what is going on! I do know that sleeping on your back can cause your circulation to slow down and it can give you problems with breathing (i wake up on my back sometimes with numb legs and feel light headed) But i havent woke up Gasping for air, sounds dangerous to me. If you arent getting enough oxygen then neither is your little one, definetly call the dr so they can either give you some tips or reassure you!

When I was pregnant my partner used to say I breathed really loud when I was asleep. It was when he tried to syncronize his breathing with mine he realised I was breathing slower and slower then...er..panic...then he would here my breath again..panic over. He said it happened every night several times, this was when I was 30+ weeks right up until the birth. I was never actually aware of it myself though so the thought of you waking up gasping for air would cause me some concern.

I'd get checked for sleep apnea.
(It's a condition where you stop breathing or aren't getting enough O2 as you sleep. Often if your brain doesn't register to wake you up you coud die. Most people are placed on oxygen tanks (C-pap) as they sleep.)
Your oxygen level depletes and if you go too long without Oxygen it could be fatal for you and your baby. Be sure to get checked...
Also keep and eye on your baby too make sure that he/she doesn't develop it either as newborns often do.

I particularly situations sense wanting breath now that i'm pregnant. is that this hassle-unfastened? definite, many women folk people adventure this sensation as their being pregnant advances. you are able to as properly be conscious it early in being pregnant, whether at that degree it incredibly is extra frequently sensed as a heightened expertise of the ought to respire. you like extra oxygen in the process being pregnant, and your physique adapts to fulfill this want in numerous techniques. an improve in hormones, incredibly progesterone, quickly impacts your lungs and stimulates the respiration midsection on your ideas. And at an analogous time as the type of breaths you're taking in line with minute truthfully transformations little or no in the process being pregnant, the quantity of air you soak up with each and each breath will improve severely. Later in being pregnant, as your growing to be uterus places rigidity on your diaphragm, your respiration might sense extra worked — rather in case you're donning your toddler intense or donning multiples. you will get some alleviation some weeks formerly you're due, rather if it is your first being pregnant. this is while some women people adventure lightening (the toddler dropping into the pelvis). Is there something i will do approximately feeling wanting breath? this sense is frequently innocuous and prevalent. whether this is a stable thought to take issues quite extra slowly and you may wish to no longer push your self too complicated while being energetic. take a seat up quickly and save your shoulders decrease back, rather while sitting, to offer your lungs as plenty room to expand as attainable. Propping your self in mattress somewhat with some extra pillows might supply you some alleviation at night. as quickly as you supply delivery, your respiration will quickly circulate decrease back to feeling like it did formerly you have been pregnant. *this must be effective, I questioned an analogous situation, it incredibly is gotten worse for me and that i'm 35 weeks. stable success & congrats!!*

sleep apnea can be dangerous!!! Tell your dr asap! You may need to start sleeping in a more upright position (like in a recliner) or you may need a breathing aparatus for sleep.
