deni, i agree with you on all but one point.
Rumsfeld was calling for a change in direction in Iraq, but his demands went largely unheard until after he "resigned" at the request of ush thinking it would gain him some brownie points with the public. direction didn't change even after he was gone, did it?

They don't because in true witch hunts the charges fall apart and they come out okay. Only when there is something they have to hide do they resign.

not very often. take a look at Gonzales, he clearly had some sort of control over the politically motivated firings of several prosecutes, and then refused to even tell the truth under oath. (i forget the total number times he said "i dont recall") Rumsfeld resigned because of the planning mistakes he made with Iraq, and Rove because of his loss of power. All of these are the most recent, and none have anything to do with witch hunts.

Rarely do they resign for fictitious causes. But when the light is shown on the crimes and lies that were done in the dark of night the rats do scurry for the dark.

government officials, from local on up, always have something hiding in the closet. may not be the true focus of the hunt, but it always comes out in the end.

Happens all the time, some people just don't want to go through a bunch of BS, especially if they have done nothing wrong.

If the news reports it enough times, then it must be true, even if the person has done absolutely nothing.

Why would you resign IF you have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide? That just doesn't happen.

The only time people resign is when Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Boxer are airborn around the capital.
