I'm looking for a good way to detox my body of sugar. I've been having a lot of it lately and have had a lot of headaches (I think as a result). Has anyone tried a good detox that actually worked?

Eat more fresh vegetables and for snacks eat fresh fruit and drink organic fruit juices. In between drink 6 to 8 bottles of pure water. This will flush your system of all harmful toxins brought on by the sugar buildup.

I do not believe you can get headaches just from too much sugar, unless you're actually diabetic, in which case you should be going to a doctor. If you're not diabetic, there must be another cause for your headaches. The best approach here is again to go see a doctor.

Other things to look at: Caffeine can cause headache when you stop drinking it and start having withdrawals. That can come from coffee, tea (iced or hot), chocolate, cocoa most soft drinks (coke, pepsi, etc.).

Reducing sugar intake is trickier than one might think, because pretty much everything we eat has to be converted into some form of sugar in order for our body to absorb it and convert it to energy. You can start by avoiding white sugar, white bread, white potatos, white flower, processed wheat, popular soft drinks and soda. Read the lables of foods you eat, if some form of sugar is near the top of the list of ingredients, it probably has more sugar than you want to ingest. And avoid things that contain aspartame, a not very good sugar substitute.

There are good and bad sugar. Another name for sugar, carbohydrates. So there are good and bad carbohydrates (carbs). Simple carbs are all the things I mentioned that you should avoid in the above paragraph. To stop sugar addiction, you need first to remove items from your diet that are comprised of lots of white and processed sugars. It may be hard to do it all at once. So set yourself targets.

Then, you may want to detoxify. There are many types of detox diets. Pick one that you think you can stick to, based on your preference, lifestyle, etc.

Best thing i have found for detox/alkalize is barley grass.

stuff is amazing! its like wheatgrass but you can get it in a dry powder.

you may want to cut down on carbohydrates, they get converted to glucose after we eat them.

as for cravings i find that like someone previous mentioned, if you do something when it happens like get a glass of water it helps them to pass.

Drink lots of water. Every time you feel the urge for something sugary, reach for a glass of ice cold water. That's what I always turn too when one of my "addictions" starts calling my name! It's really refreshing too!
