Your major league team has never won a world series. You're playing before the home crowd. The series is tied. This is the last and deciding game. It's the bottom of the 9th. The score is 4 to 5, their favor, with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Two outs. You are at bat. The count goes to 3 & 2. "Here's the wind up, there's the pitch"???

It's a wild pitch. The umpire declares it a ball. The runner at third streaks home and scores, it's 5 to 5. The runner on second heads toward third, and the catcher, who has finally found the ball, decides to throw to third base to get the out and end the inning. But the throw is high, and the third baseman can't catch it. The ball skitters out in the left field. At this point I have safely trotted down to first base and am watching the drama unfold. The third base coach waves the runner from second home as the left fielder races toward the ball rolling down the foul line. He scoops up the ball, grabbs it, and throws home. The runner from third goes into a slide as he approaches home plate. He gets there just as the ball does. The catcher snatches the ball out of the air and swings his mit down to tag the sliding runner, but the ball pops out of his glove and the runner is safe. Final score, 6 to 5 and the series is won by the home team.

oh no! not another sales pitch!

I am a Buddhist - I am rather detached - I let it go past and leave it up to the pitcher to decided the fate - ball or strike - up to him -

but, with that attitude you might wonder how I got to bat in the first place - Wait! I didn't get to bat other than in your imagination - - ! - I am merely a part of your dream..

i keep my eye on the ball, and give it all i got at the right moment. if i fail, no one can say that i didnt try, if i succeed i dont let this amazing feat go to my head. i stay humble and remind well wishers that baseball is a TEAM sport and if there hadnt been on base the best i could have done was tie the game. a teammember is only as good as their team as a whole
