You are talking about Bush's croonies here - beter watch out they might have your questions tapped - LOL
People wont forget for this election - but - it doesnt matter - Bush isnt running this election so its all meaningless from Bush's point of view - now what are Rove and Gonzales's agenda might be a different story.
Gonzales was a puppet - if he had succeeded in handling the situation he would have had a great political career...now he will have to wait a full election cycle to run for a major office - unless he runs for Congress (House or Senate). He might have a good chance for Congress as that is local based and his people are all local.
Rove, well, he aint in control any more - not until he gets into the highest "intelligent" spot. Dont be surprised if the next president - no matter who it is - brings him back into the fold under a different hat.

Gonzales' credentials and qualifications are very impressive - unfortunately, his answers to many questions were not. I believe his resignation was best for the country.
Rove, on the other hand, simple resigned, in my opinion, so he could slip through the cracks and avoid further investigations. Again, best for the country - Congress presently has plenty to do in addressing much more important problems presently facing this nation than to continually launch investigation after investigation.
Perhaps now they can concentrate a little more on what they should be doing - maybe even find a few alternatives or solutions to more pressing concerns.
To answer your question, I don't think the resignation of key people from any administration helps boost the credibility of the administration in any way what so ever. Even if the people tend to forget, the opposing party is sure to remind them during the campaigns.

Probably...Rove is a genius...he's been known to crush ice, leap over chairs in a single bound...err well, sort of hop up and then step down the other side...he can beat the radio shack chess game, he can sharpen pencils with complete accuracy...so of course this is a political move, but since he knows that most people would think this is a political move, maybe he has a completely different agenda...?
Then again, he might just be tired of it all and is wanting some time with his family.
Gonzalez was a poor choice from the beginning...inept political appointee (that's what you get when you don't appoint on merit), I'm glad he's finally stepping down...I think his ineffectiveness finally got to be too much.

It sure seems the resignations are a reluctant move on the Presidential team's part to appease the public at the smallest level. I was really annoyed by Bush's speech this morning about Gonzales' resignation, basically blaming everyone else for the resignation. Let's be honest, the Bush administration got caught red-handed in hiring someone like Gonzales to do their bidding, and now they regret being caught so have to reluctantly let their little henchman go.
These are just my opinions of course, with the aid of some NPR.

There comes a time in the life of a political appointee, when their usefulness comes to an end, because of public opinion.
This means that they fall on the sword, and deflect responsibility, for
incompetent decisions made by the administration
In the case of this administration, I think you will eventually see the White House cooks and Gardeners trying to save what is left of Georgies face, By announcing their resignations on TV

Hmmm I don't think so, I think they just got tired of all the crap....
But you do realize that under the administration of Little Billy the Secretaries of State, Treasury (twice), Defense, Agriculture, Commerce (3 times), Labor, HUD, Transportation, Energy (twice) and Veterans Affairs all resigned, right? Guess that's different.

It ain't gonna happen. No, I think they had become a major liability. The GOP can't hold off accountabilty forever.
Rove fled to save his skin and Gonzo was thrown under the bus.

They went out with their heads held high, under their own terms. They were not forced out by whiny libs that want to launch investigations that Bush cheated on a 3rd grade math test and impeach him for it.
