my dell dimension e310 has a pci e x 1 slot for graphics cards it also has two pci slots when upgrading the graphics should i base the card on pci e x 1 or just on regular pci

ps. if anybody could recommend a card for under a $100 and with 512 or 256 memory

x1 PCIe is faster than PCI. It is just that there are only quite a few graphics card on the x1 PCIe format. Here's a good one:

I'd say stick with the PCI-E x1, even though there is a far less selection of cards. The x1 slot is around the same, if not better than PCI, but the cards are also a bit more expensive. Two cards would be the HIS Radeon X1300 for PCI-E x1 and the Jaton GeForce 6200 for PCI

He doesnt have PCI-E x16, only x1, therefore he cannot get an 8600GT unless he upgrades the motherboard.
