i think our country could learn from others we are still a young and growing nation and with some luck we may reach these goals.also i have learned from dr. there that the better they do at there jobs the more money they make. so far what i learned from others with that kind of society they can afford the higher taxes due to not having the added costs of med care prescription and whatever other benefits they are getting and people actually statistically live longer healthier lives. here i am surrounded by loved ones with life threatening issues who have to give up on finding help cause its limited in smaller areas in the states

It's not available in the states because the americans are very greedy people. They are more concerned about making themselves money than taking care of their fellow man. The reason we have such high costs of medical services is because medicine is a big money maker. People don';t have mandatory vacations because once again they won't make money if people are away on vacation and people can care less about other people's children so daycare isn't a priority. It's a very self serving, self centered nation we live in.

Well you're actually talking about socialism, not socialization- which is the process of raising, educating and training children to become members of society.

It's largely because we've seen in Europe that such programs while well-intentioned, don't work so well. They are so expensive to implement- in a nation the size of the US, they would bankrupt the government in no time (never mind the existing deficit)

Wanting to take care of our fellow man doesn't change the fact that running emergency rooms requires LOTS of money. The drugs to treat diseases, the equipment that paramedics carry, the machines in hospitals- it all gets more expensive every day.

America is based on the idea that the private sector is better than the government at doing certain things. If multiple companies are competing for business (for example cellphone service), prices go down as companies try to attract customers. Try to rip off people and they simply take their business elsewhere.

If there's a monopoly, prices rise since people have no other options. Huge bureacracies like the governmment add to the inefficieny, greed gets out of hand, and you see nonsense like the Pentagon paying $300,000 for toilet seats.

We are much larger than France, and just look at their terrible unemployment problems. All of those friendly social initiatives cost real money, and where does that come from? The pockets of workers who pay taxes....

Socialization only appears to be a good answer on the surface. It is one short step from communism. A previous boss of mine always called Socialism, "poison candy". And it is true. The taxes of Canadians and European countries are far greater than our own, to support and pay for the "free healthcare". There is nothing FREE in this world. It is paid for in higher taxes by these nations. In addition, it is substandard care. I use to work as a manager of a counseling service, and I have had so many Canadian and European people confide in me that they feel that their mother, father, sister, would have survived cancer or some other horrible disease if they were only able to get to the USA in time. We have superior healthcare (no matter what you may think of it personally). The world knows it, and they do their best to get care here when seriously ill, if they can, NOT to Canadian and European countries. The reason we have superior healthcare is because our doctors are not paid on the Socialist Plan. Our doctors make considerably more money here than their European and Canadian counterparts. This fact is believed to be why doctors here in the U.S. put more time, energy, effort, into research, as well as their patients. Europe and Canada are still great cultures, but the socialist aspect of their respective cultures, have caused many their lives. This has been told to me time and time again by Europeans and Canadians.

socialism leads to higher taxes, these taxes are invested in funding social programs such as public schools(which we have),free clinics, homeless shelters, public transportation(to some extent),etc. People in the US seem to be very greedy and are outright against their taxes being raised, alot of people also are against socialism because the services many times under socialism such as public schools and free education, free medical services are really bad.
