You can use a self tanner in the areas where you are not tanned. Or use a bleaching creaming, but that could irriate your skin. Why not just go to a sun tanning place and cover up the areas you don't want tanned.

Hi our lady,
'i spent a lovely day' Welcome back! Why don't you keep the memories of that 'lovely day'?
First, why you would feel embarrassment and have to suck it up? I think you needn't.
Second, you can try either a sunscreen on the tanned parts and have some suntan or, if you insist, try a tanning salon.

The best thing to do is to stay at the lake even longer. You can't just leave half finished.

You could try putting sunscreen on your forearms and not your shoulders for a little bit, in attempt to even it out.
