x^2 + 10x + 24 = ( x+6 ) (x+ 4 )
so a = 6 and b = 4

solve 7+ x(x)= 56
x^2 = 49
so x = 7 or x = -7

x^2 +10x +24= (x+a)(x+b)
Your numerals are right but the signs are wrong.
x^2 +10x +24= (x^2 + ax + bx + ab)
a + b = 10
ab = 24
a = 6
b = 4

24x - 6 = 6(4x - 1)

7+ x^2= 56
x^2 = 49
x = ± 7
