The return of Utley will send Iguchi to the bench. He will be used to fill in once or twice a week, as a pinch hitter, and a defensive replacement from time to time. He is a good player to have on the team if they go to the playoffs this year but I don't believe you will see him with the phillies next year.

It is so great that Utley is back. Perfect timing for the playoff push!
Iguchi will be a great pinch hitter, pinch runner, and will create depth as the Phillies try and get into the playoffs.
Things are looking good for Philadelphia!

I'm guessing that he'll be a backup or maybe if he did well enough they will alternate him and Utley every once in awhile. Or they could send him to the minors until something comes up again.

turn him into a "come of the bench" player most likely. No sense in trading him if they pretty much just got him. Maybe a change in position? I don't know for certain just because of the fact that I'm not the manager. However, those are probably the options that make sense most.

they will have a very good bench, and a good contact pinch hitter, while still having 3 good middle infielders in Rollins, Utley, and Iguchi.

Probally as a backup. The Phillies say that he's not good at 3rd base. But he's better than any of the 3rd baseman that they have now.

1st pinch hitter...or they could move him over to 3rd base. They really need a better 3rd baseman, and Iguchi is too good to stick as a pinch hitter.
