According to CNN experts, we might run out of oil by about 2020. What do you think will hapen to countries that their economy depends on oil. Lets see:

Dubai is going the right way.-those people see it coming- but:

Russia. Venezuela. Iran. Iraq. Saudi.

What will the Russians do as proud as they are, but oil and gas are MAJOR resources. And what about the venezuelan people.

But, most importantly, Will the end of oil bring more extremists from the middle east? Since their economies depend so much on oil, they will go under hardhips, and some people there think they are superior than anybody-extremists-, what would they do when they are suddenly as bad as Africa.

Last. There is no economy that can support over one billion people there.

This is not intended to target any religion.

we won't run out of oil. we have millions of tons of it in Alaska that we haven't even dipped into yet. It's just a scare tactic that the media uses to cause people to panic. They thought the world was going to run out of oil in the 70's too.

Well this is why oil prices go up, because their is less of it. In truth, the world has a fair amount of oil left since the largely untapped nation of Venezuela contains ENORMOUS oil reserves (not to mention Canada). That aside however, there are a few things that could/would happen. 1) We will try to make our own oil as scientists are beginning to do by turning plants directly into oil. 2) The global economy will shift dramatically from the loss of this giant industry. or 3) We will learn to generate energy in different manners, such as through fusion energy, which is a form of nuclear power that generates energy by fusing atoms instead of ripping them apart. Scientists say that it could be here by 2020, so (realistically) it will probably be readily available for practical applications around 2030. It will be a hell of a transition, but if done properly it could prove to lead to a far better way of life. Other then that, we might use more solar or wind energy (which will need great improvements to be practical), use hydrogen fuel cells to power our cars (which are green, fairly practical, and useable today, but are not economically efficient at the time according to experts), and some other methods I can't think of now or I don't know. So... in short: we'll eventually do better if we don't kill each other from economic insanity Further Questions/Explanations?

The experts are wrong. The only place which will run out of petroleum resources by 2020 is Iran. That's why they are furiously develping nuclear power as an energy source. The best estimates are that there's at least 500 years of petroleum left at the current rate of usage. The biggest foreign supplier of oil to the U.S. is Canada. Over 80% of Iraqi oil production is contracted to Compagnie Petrol De Francais. Most of the production from the Middle East goes to Europe and Asia.
But, I'm sure that putting all those "experts" on CNN scared enough people so they hung around for the next round of commercials.

It's a scam. there is not an energy crisis. In the 70's the government ran a fake energy crisis. The thing is that it was only on the East coast. No other part of the country was having an energy crisis. How can that be? Lindsey Williams was right there when the oil valve to the East Coast was turned off. They staged that to see how Americans would respond if they really staged a country wide energy crisis. We are headed that way. When the price of oil goes up, the value of the worlds money goes down.

By the time it's clear that oil will run out then scientists will have developed new sources of energy to transfer over to (there are backup plans for these scenerios). The economies of those who have sufficient supplies of this alternate energy will keep right on rolling. Whatever replaces oil, you can bet that the strongest countries will have access to it one way or another.

Experts have laid out all kinds of timetables for the depletion of our underground oil reserves... estimates have put this anywhere from 2015 to 2100 and beyond... I wouldn't worry too much, as we will probably all be dead from global warming by then.... (hahaha, just kidding) We will adapt in Western civilization, but as for the Middle East, they will need to soon start to diversify their economy so that the effect will be minimized... but it will definitely be a hardship for countries that bear the brunt of oil exports !!!

Not likely to happen. Shale oil in Utah and Nevada (I believe) can be cost-effectively extracted and will last us for years, on top of our reserves and the oil not yet tapped in Alaska and other places. CNN seems to be playing along with the whole global warming hype.

Well, in about 300 years when we will run out of oil, it won't even be a factor for energy anymore.
